We all are pursuing something. No matter what it is, it consumes our times, thoughts, and attention. The past year of my life, I have pursued many different things. While none of them were “bad” per se, many of them were meaningless. At the end of the year, I was forced to face the question, “Have I grown?” In many ways, I had. In many ways, I hadn’t. However, I began reflecting on the things I had learned and the areas in which I needed to mature, I came up with a list that I would like to share with you. This list covers a variety of topics that all come back to fostering a never-ending infatuation with our Savior and King. Each post will cover one of the topics in greater depth and expound upon its relevance in our daily lives. If for nothing else, this list and these thoughts are to remind ME of God’s faithfulness and constant willingness to teach me. I hope these words will be a reminder to you, too. In these words are personal stories and struggles, revelations, and truth from the Word of God. I am so excited to share with you what is on my heart for many reasons. I want you to know God more fully and beautifully than ever before. I don’t want you to go through heartache. And I want you to be confident in where and with whom God has placed you. I pray you will dive in with me to grow more deeply and more passionately in love with our Majestic Savior as we begin the ceaseless pursuit of our First Love.
- Listen to what God is speaking to your heart
- Don’t be afraid to let go.
- Listen to your friend’s and mentor’s opinions.
- Be sensible.
- Take a step back and look at every situation.
- Think about how any friendship/relationship/activity is affecting your relationship with Christ.
- Make sure you remain a servant of the Lord and not of other’s opinions.
- Stay away from people who discourage you, belittle you, and distract you from what’s right.
- Never assume that you are above something happening to you.
- Be patient.
- Notice where your thoughts wander.
- Keep a realistic perspective of situations; don’t let your emotions run wild.
- Don’t allow your happiness or satisfaction be determined by what you are doing in relation to what others are doing. Let it be in relation to what God is doing.
- Serve.
- Trust His healing
- Look for genuine hearts.
Marina! SO good. Read through all of your posts this morning and they’re so well written and such an encouragement. You are right about so, so many things. I, too, would encourage you to keep digging deep wells and hiding scripture all over your heart and mind because once your husband does appear things are sweet and beautiful but life rolls quickly and you’ll have so many seasons where you have to draw from those wells, without the time to properly pour into yourself. Keep writing. Keep seeking. You have a gift!
